What is permanent make-up?
With permanent make-up (PMU), pigments are placed in the top layers of the skin. Brows or lips then look made-up for a long time, without drawing them in every day.
At Basma Beauty Bar you can book permanent make-up for the brows as microblading or powder brows, and for the lips as lip pigmentation.
Microblading or powder brows: what is the difference?
Both techniques pigment the brows, but the result looks different. Basma advises you on which technique suits your brows and skin.
Microblading
A fine hand tool draws individual, hair-fine strokes. They look like natural hairs and complement your own brows. Best suited to normal to dry skin. Lasts about one to one and a half years, depending on skin type and care.
Powder brows
Fine dots of pigment are shaded in, so the brows look softer, as if lightly powdered. Also suitable for thin or patchy brows and for oily skin. Lasts about one to one and a half years, depending on skin type and care.
Lip pigmentation
With lip pigmentation, your lips look as if you are wearing lipstick for a long time, without reapplying it every day. Basma chooses the colour with you, matched to your natural lip colour, skin tone and the look you want, from natural to bold. Lip pigmentation lasts about one to one and a half years, depending on skin type and care.
Procedure and healing
Before pigmenting, Basma draws the shape to suit your features and agrees it with you. The colour is chosen to match your hair colour, skin tone and wishes.
Right after the treatment the colour looks darker and more intense than the final result. It lightens as it heals and shows its final shade after a few weeks. The touch-up is a separate appointment after the first session and fills in small gaps.

Is microblading suitable for my skin type?

In the first days the brows look noticeably darker. During healing the colour lightens and becomes softer. The final result shows after a few weeks.
How long do powder brows last, and when is a refresh a good idea?
Depending on skin type and care, powder brows last about one to one and a half years. A refresh makes sense once the colour visibly fades.

What is lip pigmentation and how is it different from lip make-up?
In lip pigmentation, pigments are placed in the uppermost layers of the skin so the lips look made-up for a long time. Unlike lipstick, it does not need to be reapplied every day.
What do my lips look like right after lip pigmentation, and how does healing go?
Right afterwards the lips are slightly swollen and the colour looks more intense. After a few days the skin peels, the colour first becomes lighter and then develops into its final shade over the following weeks.
